What is Summer Safe Routes?

Summer Safe Routes is a great way to participate in laying early foundation for important U.S. Prevention efforts leading up to the public launch of A Generation Safe and its first Educational Video campaign.

Through the targeted spreading of printed awareness materials, this U.S. Prevention project aims to help combat child sex trafficking along major interstate corridors which represent a primary location for human trafficking activities throughout the country.

What is the Need?

We need volunteers like you who are willing to print and distribute important safety awareness materials as you travel along major interstate routes. Interstate corridors serve as critical arteries for human trafficking operations, connecting major metro areas with smaller communities, and are utilized both as transportation routes and temporary stopping points for traffickers seeking to move victims across state lines.

The U.S. has identified 15,000 cases of minors being trafficked for sex each year. By placing awareness materials at key stopping points along U.S. interstates, we can begin creating safer routes for young people! This can also lay initial groundwork leading up to next-phase strategies aiming to build awareness efforts with key service worker groups and initiate partnerships with local law enforcement as part of a larger targeted safety campaign.

How Do I Participate to Prevent Exploitation?

By taking the following simple steps during your own personal travel along U.S. interstates this summer, you can help prevent sex trafficking for youth and teens as you make stops along the way! By leaving printed safety awareness information, you can help us in the early stages of sparking a national movement of preventing exploitation through education:

Step 1:

Print (or pay for a print order delivery of) your own Post Cards and/or Flyers before travelling along U.S. Interstate routes. *Note: If you choose to order from an online print company like Vistaprint.com, please allow 10 business days prior to your travel for
receiving the print shipment in the mail.

Print Your Own:
Flyer is meant to print One-Sided on 8.5×11 Paper:
Post Card is meant to print Double-Sided on 4×6 Card Stock:

Step 2:

As you travel along an Interstate, stop at frequented Gas Stations, Public Rest Areas, Truck Stops, Transit Stations, and high-traffic Restaurants and Hotels.

Step 3:

At each location, ask permission to leave the Flyers on Bulletin Boards and/or place a stack of Post Cards on the Checkout Countertop. After leaving the printed item(s) at each location, make sure to do the next important step:

Step 4:

At each stop, once you have left the printed materials in place, go on a device to visit this same webpage to then submit the Address Location by entering the address in the field below, or emailing it to us at: info@agensafe.org with “Summer Safe Routes” in the the email subject.

Submitting the address for each location will allow us to populate the Geo Map below with location pins to track the progress of where printed safety materials have been placed:

By helping with these organic efforts in the early stages, you have the ability to offer safety resources to individual lives in danger—while contributing to an initial “safety net” being established along interstates, to be followed later by more robust safety initiatives as concentrations develop along interstates to pave the way for more focused local efforts in various regions.

Thank you for your help in Preventing Exploitation Through Education!
